VICEROY MIAMI PREPARES FOR ITS DEBUT WITH APPOINTMENT OF FLORENT GATEAU AS GENERAL MANAGER
– Key opening experience and market insight decide Gateau’s appointment as property prepares for its 2009 launch
June 2, 2008 (Miami, FL) – Nicholas Clayton, President of Kor Hotel Group, a growing presence in world-class hospitality, is proud to announce the appointment of Florent Gateau as General Manager of Viceroy Miami. Set in Downtown Miami’s Brickell district, Viceroy will mark the brand’s first hotel on the East Coast and Kor’s second South Florida project.
The hotel, which is slated for an early 2009 opening will become the brand’s second urban offering, after Viceroy Santa Monica, within a portfolio poised to offer both resort and urban destinations.
“We could not imagine a better choice than Florent to oversee the launch of our Viceroy brand’s initial venture into such an important business and leisure destination,” said Clayton in making the announcement. “His track-record with hotel openings is impressive, having opened industry-recognized Las Ventanas al Paraíso in Los Cabos, Mexico and The Setai in Miami.”
Gateau joins Kor Hotel Group following a distinguished hospitality record that includes nine years in senior management positions with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and several high-profile property openings as Resort Manager. Most recently he was Managing Director of Acqualina under Rosewood in Sunny Isles Beach, FL, where he restructured and revamped service operations in all departments of the resort.
Viceroy Miami brings the brand’s signature fusion of glamorous style, provocative design and innovative culinary experiences to downtown Miami. Brickell, the city’s international business center is an increasingly popular leisure and lifestyle destination for visitors, as well as South Floridians in “the-know.”
The project partners Kor with real estate impresario Jorge Perez and his Florida-based The Related Group on a dynamic, three tower hotel-residence project, locally known as “Icon Brickell.” Viceroy’s tower, designed by world-renowned architects Arquitectonica and striking interiors by tastemaker Kelly Wearstler, will become one of Miami’s most-desired destinations, offering an exclusive spa designed by Philippe Starck, a gourmet restaurant uniquely envisioned by Kelly Wearstler and breathtaking waterfront views throughout. A signature, 50th floor rooftop pool and lounge highlight the project’s distinctiveness, offering unprecedented views of Biscayne Bay, South Beach and the Atlantic, beyond.
